Bajgiran border terminal is placed in khorasan Razavi province, north – east of Iran and in common border of Iran and Turkmenistan. The distance of this border to Quchan County is 84km and 211Km far from Mashhad, the center of khorasan Razavi province.
The nearest city of the opposite country to this border is Eshghabad with 35Km distance.
Bajgiran border terminal construction subject in zero border point between Iran and Turkmenistan offered and ratified in common economic commissions and mutual cooperation of the two parties after increasing the passenger and goods traffic through Iran and Turkmenistan border line and long distance of Iran and Bajgian border installations from zero border point. This border is known as authorized official border by the act of cabinet on April 29, 1996.
After fragmentation of united soviet and Turkmenistan independence, passenger and goods traffic started only in semi-official Bajgiran path and under border pass authorities between Iran and Turkmenistan. As Bajgiran is close to Turkmenistan's capital, large amount of exports from khorasan province is carried out to Turkmenistan.
According to the existence of small border market in Bajgiran region, short distance between Bajgiran border and Eshghabad, the main export of Iran to Turkmenistan is done through this border terminal.
Bajgiran border terminal building has been constructed in a land with 12 hectares area and 7260 square meters infrastructure in which the main building is 6000 square meters with two side flanks. The design of the building is compatible to the climate conditions of the region and supply considered persistence in this field since cold weather and large amount of precipitation and long term winter dominate the region. It is to be noted that Some 42 billion rials have been expended for construction of this border terminal.
