Nourduz border terminal is placed in east Azerbaijan province, north-east of Iran and in common border of Iran and Armanistan. The distance of this border to Jolfa is 65km and 175km far from Tabriz, the center of east Azarbaijan province. It is to be noted that the nearest city of opposite country to this border is Moghvi with 7km distance.
Since early 1992 that this border reopened and facilitated easy access, truck and bus traffic from opposite country to Iran increased significantly, and because of the lack of any official facilities this border started its activity by establishing container and became very important as a common and authorized border between Iran and Armenia Republic. It is to be noted that Truck and passenger traffic increased significantly after constructing a bridge on Aras River. This border is known as authorized official border by the act of cabinet on April 29, 1995.
Nourduz border terminal as the only common and authorized international border terminal between Iran and Armania is very important. Accordingly, constructing a large bridge on the east side of the old bridge increased economic transactions between the two countries.
Nourduz border terminal has been constructed in a land with 8 ha area. The first phase of this border including a passenger hall in an area of 3000 square meters in two floors including police force, power plant, access area and parking lots have been constructed and will be utilized soon. The second phase including commercial hall which is under utilization. It is to be noted that more than 47 billion rials have been expended for construction of this border terminal.
